Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for an Accounting Analyst to be located in Lancaster, PA. The Accounting Analyst will be responsible for general and manufacturing accounting activities for both US and Canada business support functions with a focus on providing world-class customer service to internal customers. Additionally, the Accounting Analyst will assist in the monthly, quarterly and annual financial closing process for the business, including the consolidation and reporting responsibilities.


Key Responsibilities of the Accounting Analyst:

  • Performing financial accounting closing by creating, posting and monitoring journal entries and accruals covering specific general ledger and manufacturing accounting functions
  • Preparing and auditing account reconciliations applicable to area of responsibility for general ledger and sub ledger accounts, including the goods receipt and invoice receipt reconciliations
  • Managing sales incentive calculation files and accruals for the North American Commercial Sales Representatives
  • Providing fixed asset information and analysis including summaries of major capital projects for Board of Directors, depreciation, and capitalized interest
  • Interpreting Distributor, Contractor, Gold Circle rebate programs and managing calculations and accruals for numerous locations in the US and Canada
  • Distributing monthly sales report cards to Area Managers, which contain territory sales and price performance against target within product groups
  • Performing sales credit transfers and plant claims corrections using SAP and Business Warehouse
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of actual, estimate, budget and strategic plans as assigned, capturing details required for the director including financial analysis and reporting, both P&L and Balance Sheet activities 
  • Preparing actionable reporting and analysis to support the company’s financial closings and both internal and external reporting processes
  • Completing activities and providing reporting and analysis in accordance with agreed upon service level requirements
  • Supporting and providing the appropriate level of oversight and review for activities performed by offshore accounting service provider
  • Ensuring all schedules and deadlines are met on time and are accurate in accordance with requirements
  • Communicating with colleagues at various location within the Americas region & foreign entities to resolve issues and closing discrepancies and following through with appropriate action
  • Recommending, developing and implementing changes to continually improve processes, support standardization, and the effectiveness of the finance team
  • Documenting policies, procedures, workflow, and checklists for assigned responsibilities
  • Confirming and abiding by all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures
  • Providing SOX compliance and audit reviews internally and externally
  • Liaising with internal and external auditors


Required Qualifications for the Accounting Analyst:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years experience in Finance or Accounting
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to ascertain the reasonableness and accuracy of information
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Power Point 
  • Aspiration to progress into a future Financal Analyst role 


Desired Qualifications for the Accounting Analyst:

  • SAP or BW experience
