Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Market Segment Manager, Education in Lancaster, PA. The Market Segment Manager, Education will lead marketing and business development activities for the AWI’s education market segment. The Market Segment Manager, Education will develop and implement the education segment’s growth strategy and work to create a value proposition unmatched in the building products industry, in order to position AWI as the market leader in the segment.


Key Responsibilities of the Market Segment Manager, Education:

  • Developing a 1-5 year vision for the education segment that appeals to customer segments and inspires the organization
  • Developing a strategy for new products and services that align with the multi-year vision
  • Managing the education segment portfolio and SKUs, influencing the product management team and working with operations, sourcing, quality, and finance to drive growth and profitability targets
  • Managing departmental budgets against annual targets
  • Developing marketing strategies and programs that deliver sustained year-over-year growth, despite the economic climate, and increase segment penetration
  • Preparing intelligence reports, financial analysis, competitive research, and customer insights programs
  • Developing and refining relevant value propositions based on market trends and evolution
  • Monitoring media and events to gain a strong understanding of the current and future market trends related to organic reagents
  • Developing and managing a rolling 18-24 month project roadmap in line with product management, sales channels, commercial and finance
  • Acting as Armstrong’s expert in the education segment and executing strategic market analysis that clearly defines the segment’s growth opportunities
  • Developing and maintaining key industry relationships and cultivating a reputation as a voice of knowledge within the education segment
  • Developing sound, articulate communication plans which support the segment strategy, in and outside of AWI
  • Managing the education segment’s technology roadmap and growth pipeline
  • Identifying and assisting in the development and closure of new business targets with AWI’s commercial teams
  • Creating processes and conducting reviews that drive accountability at the regional field level


Required Qualifications for the Market Segment Manager, Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 8+ years of experience in the building construction/building products industry with a focus in Education
  • Expertise in marketing, customer insights, and product commercialization in the building products industry
  • Experience interfacing with internal cross-functional team members, external customers, and industry groups
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate and direct cross-functional resources in a positive manner
  • Ability to influence, develop, and build rapport at all levels within an organization
  • Demonstrated creativity, intellectual curiosity, and focus on innovation
  • Ability to anticipate, plan for, and manage potential roadblocks to continue progress towards milestones
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills


Desired Qualifications for the Market Segment Manager, Education:

  • Master of Business Administration degree
