Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Value Stream Engineer to be located in Pensacola, FL. The Value Stream Engineer is responsible for providing management, coordination and continuous improvement of the manufacturing process, including, but not limited to: cost targets, schedule adherence, quality processes, manufacturing process capability, maintenance integration, product development initiatives, and overall support to the First Line Supervisors of an operation.


Key Responsibilities of the Value Stream Engineer:

  • Executing projects from the Value Stream teams
  • Facilitating the daily GEMBAs within the Value Stream
  • Coaching the production operators in the use of process control techniques, methodologies, and equipment capabilities
  • Coordinating activities around major shutdowns and holiday periods
  • Coordinating daily maintenance activities in the operation
  • Integrating maintenance work and production work around Downdays including prioritizing the work and scheduling production activities
  • Integrating operations with production planning; raw material flow, inventory, packaging, quality of material and GIP
  • Coordinating new product development (NPD) activities in the operation
  • Engaging outside resources to drive results in operations
  • Performing a variety of tasks to assure the proper supervision of the assigned operational area as needed
  • Updating SOPs, specifications, troubleshooting guides and other process documentation
  • Developing and improve internal plant communication processes between operations, maintenance, lab, logistics, and ABPT
  • Developing and improve manpower utilization processes
  • Driving improvements in operations through effective Downday planning and execution
  • Coordinating Maintenance activities and improvement projects
  • Managing the completion of RCFA’s in the operation


Required Qualifications for the Value Stream Engineer:

  • BS in Engineering or Science
  • 3 + years of experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Project Management and organizational skills
  • Ability to direct and coordinate the work of others
  • Effective Written and Verbal Communication skills
  • Thorough knowledge of plant business system processes such as: work order process, raw material flow, project planning, production, Downday planning, work rules, or union contract
  • Integration skills to leverage operations, maintenance staff support, internal and external suppliers
  • Proficiency in Excel, Word, Power Point, Mini Tab, etc.
  • Working technical knowledge of the following manufacturing technologies to include Lean Manufacturing, DMAIC, Six Sigma and Kaizen
  • Ability to pull and work with data sets from multiple sources including; Data Historian, Infinity, Access, SAP, and other plant systems to identify opportunities and accurately assess situations.


Desired Qualifications for the Value Stream Engineer:

  • Prior supervisory experience
