Armstrong World Industries, Inc., has a job opportunity for a Maintenance Manager to be located in Pensacola, FL. The Maintenance Manager will be responsible for providing effective oversight, coordination and leadership of the maintenance department at the Pensacola plant, which includes all matters relating to the efficient and effective maintenance of plant machinery, equipment and facilities.

                                                                                     

Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance Manager:

  • Leading and coordinating the safety program for the maintenance department; promotes safety personally and ensures safe work practices are followed in accordance with legal requirements and plant/corporate EHS policies
  • Managing daily maintenance activities and improvement efforts
  • Managing maintenance costs within budgeted spending levels
  • Providing direction to maintenance supervisors and planners to achieve effective planning and execution of maintenance activities
  • Establishing effective partnerships with the plant Leadership Team and production teams to improve plant reliability and performance
  • Advising and assisting the plant manager on improvements regarding maintenance practices, designs, schedules, size and structure of organization, compensation, financial budgets, cost variances and personnel issues
  • Collaborating closely with the plant engineering staff on all aspects of maintenance or production challenges and opportunities
  • Coordinating with Leadership Team peers to discuss problems and execute work
  • Working with maintenance supervisors, HR and others to reconcile employee issues and provide recognition as appropriate
  • Administering the disciplinary process as required consistent with plant and corporate guidelines
  • Establishing effective communications with Union representatives; handles grievances within the maintenance department up to and including step 2
  • Managing storeroom personnel to balance inventory cost and spare parts availability
  • Reviewing and evaluating performance of direct reports; delegates work to them as appropriate
  • Improving overall skills, knowledge and capabilities of maintenance personnel through training
  • Analyzing financial and process data to identify areas for improvement

 

 Required Qualifications for the Maintenance Manager:

  • Bachelors degree in engineering or a related technical field and at 7+ years of prior work experience in manufacturing or HS diploma with 14+ years of maintenance leadership experience is required
  • Strong communication skills
  • Proven leadership skills necessary to facilitate a safe work environment

 

Desired Qualifications for the Maintenance Manager:

  • Prior maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with precision maintenance concepts and methods
  • Familiarity with preventative and predictive maintenance concepts and methods
  • Basic working knowledge of SAP
