Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Maintenance and Engineering Manager to be located in Millwood, WV.  Under the direction of the Plant Manager, the Maintenance and Engineering Manager is responsible for all the plant maintenance and engineering functions for the Millwood plant to provide for optimal asset care. 


Key Responsibilities of the Maintenance and Engineering Manager:

  • Implementing ABP safety system, compliance to safety, health and environmental requirements, and safety performance in the maintenance organization
  • Managing development of capital budgets of $4 Million+ annually; management, measurement, and reporting of capital spend
  • Supervising and developing the maintenance supervisors, maintenance planner, storekeeper, maintenance systems coordinator, electrical / facilities supervisor, as well as engineers supporting plant operations
  • Managing maintenance labor, overtime, materials and outside services (selection of and direction to outside contractors and service representatives) of $3 Million+ annually
  • Managing reduction of downtime on the operating lines. Improvement of equipment and methods for greater reliability and lower costs
  • Managing stores inventory of $500K for maximum effectiveness and minimum cost
  • Owning, using, maintaining and improving Maintenance systems, including work ID, PM/PDM, Planning/Scheduling and Stores
  • Owning and driving safety system processes for maintenance department
  • Collaborating with Value Stream Manager and production supervisors, engineers, and others to ensure that maintenance resources are being utilized effectively for the plant operation, specifically down day planning and execution
  • Leading the process and the Engineering organization relative to the effective control and management of the Plant's Capital budgeting, spending, and tracking efforts
  • Providing for and promoting regular communication between all areas and teams within the organization
  • Providing leadership for plant Continuous Improvement initiatives


 Required Qualifications for the Maintenance and Engineering Manager:

  • B.S. Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 10+ years of experience managing a maintenance function within a manufacturing environment
  • Project Management experience of complex scope
  • Proven ability to coach/mentor others


Desired Qualifications for the Maintenance and Engineering Manager:

  • Lean certification

Our Pensacola Plant, one of six Armstrong ceiling plants, employs approximately 280 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers worldwide.
