Armstrong World Industries, Inc. has a job opportunity for a Value Stream Improvement Champion to be located in Pensacola, FL.  The Value Stream Improvement Champion will be responsible for reducing or eliminating waste within the Value Streams as well as improving uptime, rate and yield on the Value Streams.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Value Stream Improvement Champion:

  • Utilizing technical expertise and leadership skills to identify, initiate and implement significant process improvement activities
  • Collaborating with Value Stream Managers, Technical Resources and Handling maintenance to develop value stream roadmap for improvement
  • Owning the daily MDI/GEMBA process.  Responsible for achieving any future state of the area
  • Supporting assigned Value Stream to meet all KPIs
  • Working directly with the Value Stream Teams to identify opportunities and execute projects in the assigned Value Stream
  • Leading and executing Kaizen events that support opportunities for waste reduction or elimination in the Value Stream
  • Organizing and analyzing data sets that outline the systematic improvement opportunities in the assigned Values Stream
  • Driving proactive problem solving and root-cause elimination at all levels of the value stream
  • Directing the activities of Kaizen teams, Maintenance support personnel, production employees and support staff

 

Required Qualifications for the Value Stream Improvement Champion:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent relevant experience
  • 3+ years’ experience in manufacturing environment with 2+ years process improvement experience
  • Strong Influential leadership, facilitation and meeting management skills.
  • Project management skills
  • Ability to leverage relationships to drive results
  • Process Improvement execution and facilitation experience
  • Computer proficiency including basic skills in Minitab, Infinity or similar statistical software

 

Desired Qualifications for the Value Stream Improvement Champion:

  • Previous supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Green Belt/Black Belt and/or Lean Certification

Our Pensacola Plant, one of six Armstrong ceiling plants, employs approximately 280 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers worldwide.
