Job Description :

The Marietta Ceiling Plant is seeking a Industrial Energy Technician who will be responsible for maintaining all energy related systems throughout the plant to maximum efficiency. To be successful in this position, the desired candidate must be able to inspect, troubleshoot, repair and maintain all combustion, heating, ventilation systems and their components.


The Marietta Ceiling Plant runs continuously 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The Industrial Energy Technician will be joining a maintenance organization that is charged with providing maintenance solutions that efficiently and effectively enables the plant to meet its manufacturing goals around safety, quality, throughput and cost. We are seeking highly motivated technicians who are capable of assuming ownership of their work, have a continuous improvement mindset and thrive on working in a fast paced, work environment.


Job Requirements

  • Observe all safety regulations, assess and eliminate all risks before any or all work is performed. Assure all Energy contractors adhere to these regulations and confirm risks have been eliminated.
  • Report to Maintenance Supervisor and complete all necessary written documentation and SAP functions on a daily basis.
  • Perform inspections, testing, tuning, troubleshooting and repairs on dryers, boilers, water treatment systems, steam systems, expanders (perlite), HVAC systems and miscellaneous natural gas equipment.
  • Be familiar with all aspects of these systems including electrical instrumentation and mechanical applications and assembly.
  • Understand the plant production process and the energy requirements and any environmental consequences that need addressed.
  • Suggest changes and work with local and corporate Engineering to make processes energy efficient, reduce downtime or improve quality of final product while adhering to environmental requirements.
  • Use electrical skills to maintain, install or replace instrumentation for all combustion and ventilation systems.
  • Maintain records of down day activities, equipment history, gas readings, water testing, safety tests using SAP and SharePoint.
  • Perform all preventive and predictive maintenance on equipment as needed. Work with supervisor and planner to optimize these systems.
  • Provide direction to Energy contractors as needed. Guide Plant Electricians and contractors during energy related outages or downtime events.
  • Maintain Energy shop in a 5S fashion including parts and tools, maintain personal working tools, work with Storeroom staff and determine and dispose of obsolete parts or equipment.
  • Be on call 24/7 for emergency response and be able to train Plant Mechanics or Electricians for “stand in or backup” when needed.
  • This position will be required to be available to work nights and weekends as needed to support plant operations.
  • Perform all other duties as required



  • At least five (5) years relevant maintenance or industrial energy experience.
  • Strong background in troubleshooting combustion systems both electrically and mechanically
  • Basic knowledge of 480V systems and the ability to troubleshoot AC/DC control
  • Ability to interface controls using Human Machine Interfaces (HMI’s); knowledge of instrumentation; and understanding of pneumatic/hydraulic systems as they relate to combustion processes.
  • Strong computer skills to include maintenance work order systems
  • Although the work schedule is primarily days, the individual in this position must be able to work daily overtime and week end work as assigned. 
  • Must be able to be on call as required. 


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Journeyman certification in electrical or mechanical trade is highly desired.  
  • Knowledge of SAP
