Armstrong World Industries, Inc. (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Service and Quality Engineer – Architectural Specialties to be located in Lancaster, PA. The Service and Quality Engineer will be responsible for developing and executing plans to improve the Total Customer Experience with Architectural Specialties (AS) Products. Additionally, the Service and Quality Engineer will be responsible for improving product quality by working with internal and external Supply Chain partners to identify opportunities for improvement and ensuring appropriate actions are executed.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Service and Quality Engineer:

  • Investigating customer complaints, issue non-conformance reports, monitor corrective action plans
  • Developing Quality Assurance and Design requirements with New Product Development Teams
  • Improving customer satisfaction and reduce product claims
  • Conducting and performing quality assessments
  • Providing product technical support to Architectural Specialties Project Coordinators and Project Managers
  • Anticipating and meeting customer needs by maintaining proper inventory levels and accurate lead-times in order to eliminate stock outs and ensure on-time shipments
  • Proactively monitoring product availability issues and identify solutions to meet customer requirements
  • Facilitating and expediting customer orders as they flow through the entire supply chain from order entry to delivery by effectively communicating and interacting with Project Coordinators, Manufacturing and Distribution Centers
  • Maintaining accurate supplier capacity plans, minimum lead times, replenishment rules, and inventory levels for finished goods and intermediate materials
  • Evaluating incoming orders for custom Ceilings and Walls
  • Assessing manufacturing resource needs in terms of materials and factory capabilities
  • Determining manufacturing risks (new product, new process, new suspension method)
  • Implementing countermeasures to offset risks and ensure on-time quality products to jobsites
  • Effectively communicating proposed solutions to internal customers, management, or other interested parties through written proposals and oral presentations
  • Establishing collaborative relationships through the organization and with suppliers to work cooperatively to resolve issues and concerns
  • Compiling and analyzing statistical data to develop policies, procedures, methods, standards, and reports for the Architectural Specialties supply chain
  • Developing business insights based on analysis of results, and communicate key findings to management to facilitate data driven decision making
  • Providing analytical and reporting capabilities to procurement and sourcing initiatives
  • Administering and maintaining supply chain document management solutions both internally and between Armstrong Architectural Specialties and suppliers
  • Maintaining knowledge of Contract Management practices and procedures, including current developments and potential changes

 

Required Qualifications for the Service and Quality Engineer:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering or other Engineering degree.
  • 3+ years Supply Chain Planning, Manufacturing or Quality experience
  • Excellent computer skills in Microsoft Excel and other program running on Microsoft Windows
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Must have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, translated into sound, tactical and strategic, business understanding
  • Ability to interpret quantitative data and communicate results clearly and concisely
  • Ability to adapt to changing priorities and be flexible with the ability to multi-task and to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to work independently and set priorities to accomplish goals on time
  • Must possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and work well with suppliers and internal personnel                                     

 

Desired Qualifications for the Service and Quality Engineer:

  • Experience with SAP
  • Prior demonstrated ability to read blueprints
