Armstrong World Industries has a job opportunity for an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to be located in Lancaster, PA. The Environmental, Health and Safety Specialist will be responsible for supporting the EH&S function across Armstrong World Industries, Inc. In addition to providing technical EH&S support to AWI Operations, the EHS Specialist will also manage tracking of key performance metrics and manage key elements of our Safety Data Sheet and Raw Material Nomenclature processes.

 

 

Key Responsibilities of the EHS Specialist:

  • Providing safety technical support including job safety analysis, risk assessment, machine safeguarding, ergonomics, industrial hygiene and employee training
  • Communicating and reinforcing safety culture and practices across the plants and influence safety behaviors
  • Maintaining environmental policies and conditions by applying understanding of air and water permitting, compliance to operating permits, waste management, etc.
  • Ensuring that plant practices align with environmental standards
  • Conducting effective risk assessments to recognize and evaluating industrial risks and hazards
  • Focusing efforts to reduce risks at various levels throughout the plant
  • Ensuring knowledge and application of regulatory standards
  • Educating and training others to meet established standards
  • Managing business systems specific to the EHS function such as Raw Material Nomenclature, injury data and worker’s compensation data, and Safety Data Sheets
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Required Qualifications for the EHS Specialist:

  • 2+ years of related EHS experience
  • Excellent analytical and teamwork skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to present solutions clearly and concisely
  • Strong problem solving skills with high attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

 

Desired Qualifications for the EHS Specialist:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field
  • Experience within a manufacturing organization
  • Experience with Lean tools and processes
  • Project Management experience
