Armstrong World Industries, Inc. has a job opportunity for a Treatment Plant Technician to be located in Macon, GA. The Treatment Plant Technician will be responsible for the proper operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment plant based on analytical testing and operational knowledge and will also create and maintain records/reports to ensure compliance with all State and Federal regulations.


Key Responsibilities of the Treatment Plant Technician:

  • Managing analytic Testing: MLSS, TSS, DO, COD, pH, Ammonia Nitrogen, Nitrate Nitrogen, Phosphorus, and others as needed to ensure proper control
  • Operating belt press and dump truck and maintaining clarifiers
  • Communicating potential problems to the Forming Operations and Fabrication
  • Working with Maintenance Department to plan and execute both emergency and preventative maintenance needs
  • Handling storm water testing and management, spill reaction and control measures, environmental and safety audits and other related functions.


Required Qualifications for the Treatment Plant Technician:

  • High School Diploma
  • Training as a Class 1, 2 or 3 WWTP Operator with substantial hands on management of a WWTP
  • 3 years of experience operating municipal systems or industrial systems

  • Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
  • Ability to rotate to 1st, 2nd and 3rd shift, seven days per week


Desired Qualifications for the Treatment Plant Technician:

  • Class I License with work experience in municipal or industrial wastewater plant operations

Our Macon Plant, one of six Armstrong ceiling plants, employs approximately 435 people working on rotating shifts, 24/7, in the manufacture and shipment of acoustical ceiling tile to Armstrong's customers.  Located approximately 85 miles south of Atlanta, the Macon facility has 33 acres under one roof, or 1.5 million square feet of floor space.  It is the largest ceiling tile factory in the world.  The operations are complex, automated, use the latest modern management technology, and manufacture a wide range of commercial and residential ceiling products.
