Plasterform Inc., a division of Armstrong World Industries, Inc., has a job opportunity for a CAD Designer at our

Mississauga, ON plant. The CAD Designer will be responsible for reading and interpreting architectural drawings and preparing detailed and accurate product shop drawings.  The CAD Designer is a hands-on job where you will collaborate with Senior Designers, Team Members, Senior Managers and clients to commercialize products from initial concept to production.


Key Responsibilities of the CAD Designer


  • Reading and interpreting architectural drawings
  • Preparing detailed shop drawings using AutoCAD
  • Preparing bills of materials for production
  • Read and interpret Customer’s approvals and incorporate site dimensions and tolerances into Plasterform’s production drawings
  • Creating 3D models when necessary
  • Utilizing knowledge of engineering practices, mathematics, material sciences, and production processes to complete


  • Maintaining engineering documentation by making corrections, revisions and changes to parts and drawings
  • Collaborating closely with Engineers, Senior Managers, other team members and customers
  • Assisting project teams with the physical assembly of prototype installations for evaluation and testing purposes


Required qualifications of the CAD Designer:

  • Technical college, diploma or dertificate with focus on architectural drafting
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of CAD experience in a similar role
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD 2018LT, AutoCAD 2018 or AutoCAD 2016
  • Experience using good drafting practices and procedures
  • Knowledge of engineering practices and manufacturing processes


Desired qualification of the CAD Designer:

  • Experience using 3D software such as Revit or Rhino
  • Experience with building materials and construction installation and practices
