Armstrong World Industries, Inc. has a job opportunity for a Financial Analyst. The Financial Analyst will be responsible for accounting activities and providing business insight and analytics for our Architectural Specialties business with focus on providing world-class customer service to internal customers. Additionally, the Financial Analyst will be responsible for performing financial accounting closing by creating, posting and monitoring journal entries and accruals covering specific general ledger and manufacturing accounting functions and uploading monthly results into Hyperion for companies not on SAP.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Financial Analyst:

  • Preparing and/or Auditing account reconciliations applicable to area of responsibility for general ledger and sub ledger accounts
  • Assisting with updating sales incentive calculation files for the AS Sales Representatives
  • Preparing monthly sales commissions for independent sales reps
  • Updating and analyzing the AS monthly sales management tool and distribute to business partners
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of actual, estimate, budget and strategic plans as assigned, capturing details required for the director including financial analysis and reporting (both P&L and Balance Sheet activities)
  • Assisting with M&A integration activities as needed to include mapping trial balances to reporting consolidation systems and assisting with setting up new accounting processes or ad hoc analysis
  • Preparing actionable reporting and analysis to support the company's financial closings and internal/external reporting processes- complete activities and provide reporting and analysis in accordance with agreed upon service level requirements
  • Supporting and providing the appropriate level of oversight and review for activities performed by offshore accounting service provider
  • Ensuring all schedules /deadlines are met on time and are accurate in accordance with requirements
  • Communicating with colleagues at various locations (within Americas region & foreign entities) to resolve issues and closing discrepancies
  • Recommending, developing and implementing changes to continually improve processes, support standardization, and the effectiveness of the finance team
  • Documenting policies, procedures, workflow, and checklists for assigned responsibilities
  • Confirming and abiding by all regulatory guidance and internal policies and procedures

 

Required Qualifications for the Financial Analyst:

  • Bachelor's  degree in Accounting or Finance
  • 2+ years of experience in finance or accounting roles
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment to ascertain the reasonableness and accuracy of information
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite - particularly MS Excel
  • Ability to work cross functionally with other groups within the company
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Capable of working independently and managing multiple priorities; must be a self-starter and take the initiative in completing projects and assignments
  • Excellent written and verbal communications with the ability to share knowledge at appropriate levels of the organization
  • Customer focused with strong attention to detail and capable of delivering accurate, quality results in a timely, consistent, and professional manner
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to interact comfortably and respectfully with all levels of personnel

 

Desired Qualifications for the Financial Analyst:

  • MBA
  • CPA or other accounting certification
  • Proficiency in SAP/ BW
