The Manager, Business Solutions is primarily responsible for leading a team of technicians, specialists and analysts in the development, support and delivery of application strategies.  The successful applications Manager must be an excellent communicator, tactful diplomat, planner, problem solver, thinker and analyzer; with the ability to understand and respond to customer needs in a rapidly changing business environment. In addition, the Manager position is responsible for supervising a team of IT professionals and providing guidance, coaching and support. 

 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

  • Responsible for day to day operations including scheduling and managing assignments (resource planning) inclusive of operations and projects.
  • Develop and manage relationships with vendors in support of staff augmentation and systems support in concert with Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain best-practice standards, policies, procedures, and associated training plans to ensure optimal daily operations are maintained.
  • Work with business and IT organizations to gather business requirements and capture business processes.  Facilitate translation to technical specifications.
  • Engage in all aspects of project management, including project planning, leadership and management of internal and external resources, management of project execution, risk management, prioritization, schedule and cost control, communication, issue resolution, and contingency planning.
  • Establish/maintain lines of communication with stakeholders with a view to keeping all parties informed of incidents, problems, and resolution
  • Identify opportunities to improve global standardization and organizational efficiencies
  • Serve as a point of escalation for team member’s issues requiring a higher degree of expertise or discretion to resolve and ensure timely resolution of issues by focusing on root cause analysis and implementing corrective action plans.
  • Establish IT budgets (expense and capital) and estimates.
  • Monitors and evaluates actual performance against stated goals. 
  • Monitors and evaluates behaviors against competencies, as well as monitors progress against development plans. Monitor and recommend ongoing team development.
  • Contributes to yearly performance evaluation and development plan processes.
  • Coordinate recruitment and selection for positions as required.
  • Work collaboratively with senior management to identify and prioritize projects in the portfolio associated with the maintenance of existing systems, development and implementation of new systems, resolution of more complex problems and the evaluation of emergent technologies through developing business cases that include options, recommendation, cost/benefit and risk analysis,
  • Develop knowledge of emerging and new technologies to meet new business requirements, add value to business, and help accomplish strategic and operating plans.
  • Create and maintain multi-year technical roadmap for all disciplines assigned
  • Contribute to the development of overall strategy, tactics, planning and execution of initiatives to support IT services
  • Manage identified projects using the IT project life cycle procedures and best practices

 

 

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 7-8 direct reports, 2-3 full time contractors, and variable off-site resources.
  • Responsible for coaching and performance management of direct reports.

 

 

 

Travel:         

Moderate travel expected, approximately 10%.

Education and/or Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field required.
  • 5+ years of business analysis or management experience.

 

 

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

  • Certification in either a process discipline (ITIL, PMI, Six Sigma) or technical discipline (SAP, Data Warehousing).

  • Strong technical grasp of SAP or similar ERP system preferred in a manufacturing environment.
