Armstrong Ceilings is currently seeking an EHS Specialist to join our team at our Marietta, PA facility. Reporting to the Plant Environmental, Health, and Safety Manager, the EHS Specialist is responsible for providing technical guidance relating to the Environmental, Health and Safety of the plant. The EHS Specialist will also be responsible for developing and implementing the facility’s safety management systems. This includes hazard identification, risk assessments, mitigation planning and project implementation, development of procedures, compliance auditing, and compliance reporting.

 

Additionally, the EHS Specialist will also be tasked with executing process improvement and cost reduction opportunities, in addition to serve as the safety subject matter expert (SME) on the design, management, and execution of capital projects.

 

Responsibilities of the EHS Specialist:

  • Partner with manufacturing leaders, facilitates the maintenance of safe, healthy and environmentally friendly working conditions
  • Train and educate employees in the required safety procedures, such as PPE, ergonomics, and environmental concerns such as waste and hazardous materials handling
  • Actively participate as a member of the Plant to drive resolution of common cause and special cause issues that negatively impact safety, quality, cost, and productivity
  • Provide technical assistance to the facility on a proactive basis in terms of environmental, health, and safety
  • Assist in accident/incident investigation and case/situation management as needed; recommend corrective actions and manage to completion
  • Manage facility's hazardous and residual waste programs
  • Identify and execute improvements in the plant’s environmental/safety systems and procedures
  • Lead, manage, and facilitate completion of hazard identification and risk assessments
  • Planning mitigation of process safety risks and managing projects to implement mitigation plans
  • Ensuring that process safety related documentation for all identified hazards are developed and maintained.
  • Identify safety training needs and provide training through in-house resources or external consultancy
  • Safely execute capital projects per agreed cost, schedule, and performance metrics
  • Transfer technical knowledge where appropriate to elevate organization understanding and performance
  • Ensure compliance with facility environmental permit or environmental compliance requirements
  • Serve as an on-call site contact when needed

 

Required Qualifications and Education of the EHS Specialist:

  • Bachelor degree in discipline related to functional work with up to 3 years of relevant work experience OR demonstrated ability to meet the job requirements through a comparable number of years of applicable work experience. Entry level candidates with required qualifications may be considered.
  • Project Management experience and facilitations skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office
