Job Description :


The Production Manager is responsible for leading the production team in the achievement of daily production, quality, cost and delivery requirements in support of the business operating plan. This leader should be able to positively manage a diverse and skilled workforce by focusing on talent development and succession planning. Most importantly, this person must create a culture that embraces change and focuses on continuous operational improvements that further enhance the customer experience.


The Production Manager’s primary task will be to inspire the operations team to achieve new heights through the use of strengths based management, process improvement, and lean techniques. The role will also provide daily guidance to functional and business support roles including procurement, planning, maintenance, warehouse, and engineering. The Production Manager will work with cross-functional team members to implement continuous improvement tools, operational metrics, standardization of work flows, demand planning of materials/labor, schedule adherence to commitments, resource allocations, capacity planning and performance reporting.


Furthermore, the Production Manager will provide direction to subordinate supervisors, offering professional expertise and monitoring performance to ensure that departmental and individual objectives are achieved within scheduled timelines and budgets.


The Production Manager reports directly to the General Manager.

Safety Leadership:

  • Drive a safety culture aligned with the 8-Step Safety Process and Think-Plan-Act.
  • Support plant compliance of safety rules to further our goal of zero accidents, and encourage the reporting and correction of near misses.
  • Identify high-risk safety hazards or risk tolerance, and help to resolve them.
  • Encourage all personnel to identify opportunities to improve safety through high-level participation.


Operating Plan Results:

  • Develop business plans, budgets, staffing plans, and forecasts for the production department.
  • Work with production, maintenance and warehouse personnel to drive continuous improvement and ensure a safe work environment.
  • Establish challenging operations KPIs associated with lean manufacturing; support plant-wide lean manufacturing initiatives and managing systems.
  • Validate that production equipment is capable of producing within the specifications and tolerances required.


Total Customer Experience (TCE):

  • Maintain quality of product and unit appearance.
  • Regularly and systematically check standards, and identify action for improvement.
  • Proactively respond to customer comments and feedback in accordance with WAVE policies.
  • Encourage a proactive culture to minimize all customer complaints.



  • Direct production department and ensure that cost effectiveness and consistency with safety, quality and performance standards are achieved.
  • Continuously review and improve operational productivity.
  • Function as an adviser to other functional departments and external customers regarding tasks, projects, and processes; typically related to production, but may include maintenance and shipping as well. 
  • Review and administer quality control management from manufacturing through customer feedback.
  • Analyze automated data collection to evaluate and assess operations strategy; support operations management.
  • Achieve monthly operating plan metrics for safety, quality, cost, inventory and PE%.


Organizational Vitality:

  • Communicate regularly with all department personnel, both individually and as a group, to ensure effective two-way communication concerning operation issues and best practices.
  • Strengthen departmental teamwork and facilitate training and/or learning opportunities; foster team cohesiveness.
  • Promote consistent employee recognition.
  • Lead, coach, and motivate employees in a results-oriented way through accountability.
  • Support the advancement of employee performance through one-on-one communications, formal review process and appropriate training.


Key Performance Indicators


  • Safety Performance – OSHA rate, compliance to regulations/policies, and evidence of reducing risks.
  • Productivity – PE%, MLF/MHR, material flow, maintain production reporting, and other KPI metrics.
  • Other – scheduling alignment with repetitive master schedule and aggregate plan, process improvement initiatives, and project management rigor.




  • Required; minimum five year experience managing or supervising manufacturing operations.
  • Preferred; degree in business or operations discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong attention to detail, highly organized and capable of solving practical problems in situations where limited standardization may exist.
  • Commitment to delivering quality results and overcoming obstacles in a time-sensitive environment. Ability to prioritize multiple work streams while remaining composed in a fast-paced department.
  • Demonstrate the ability to gain the trust of a team and guide their work. The ability to build relationships, and the comfort to reach out to internal and external contacts to request information.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software.
